We spent a quiet day close to home this year. Our house had stretched three sizes to hold all of the family visiting for the Baptism and Blessing and so, I think, this holiday felt especially quiet. : ) The kids played in the yard in their swim suits. Enjoying a homemade sprinkler, that I had found on Pinterest and Jared put together. Hannah, always wanting to decorate for the occasion and finding me and my on-hand supply seriously lacking, took it upon herself to MAKE an American Flag out of construction paper. She is unsinkable and constantly adding beauty and delight to our life. Jared whipped up gluten free corn dogs, we ate a picnic lunch on the deck and in the evening Melanie joined us. Jared attempted homemade macaroon cookies (my new found favorite at the time), which turned out not looking a whole lot like we had imagined them : ), but were super yummy. We sat on the sidewalk in front of the house and watched the Lititz firework display and then it was bed time. Happy Birthday, America! We are so blessed to be yours.
