Christmas Break

After a couple of intense weeks in the clinic at the end of Fall Quarter, Jared took a Physical Therapy training course and after that Christmas Break began! It was nice to have him home for a while. When Jared's home all day we end up out on unexpected adventures and he makes just being at home a lot more fun too. It always feels like break isn't quite long enough and this year with PT, a week of stomach flu and a week of weaning...the time we had truly flew.

As for our holiday celebration, the kids loved our traditional Christmas ham. Ben actually cried for more at one point. :) Granted, we ate our Christmas dinner on New Years Day this year, since Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Hannah and Ben were sick with the stomach flu. Sad. We were so glad that Grandma Lois was here with a cuddly lap from which Hannah opened most of her gifts. And thank you Grandma for all the help you gave that made Christmas still happen...wrapping almost every gift, dishes, laundry, cleaning up etc. It was a crummy sickness and the kids didn't fully recover for almost a week. I got a more mild version that lingered, while Jared's "Stubblefield Stomach of Steal" served him well yet again!

Then it was on to weaning and for the first time in a very long time I am not pregnant or nursing or both. Jared is pampering me with some foods I haven't had in a while :) and while it was a bit of an adjustment for my body, I am feeling great and I can't say enough about sleeping all night through!

Another fun bit of news for Christmas break was that we joined the YMCA. It seems to be the perfect fit for us. Jared has tried in vain for a long time to find a gym or fitness program that suited him, but the Y has classes, open gym etc. at the perfect times and with a great group of people. Hannah's already been swimming once and is looking forward to swim lessons and I love the Christian, family-focused atmosphere. I'm glad to have found a place that is such a good fit.

Then, this week Jared started back to school. We are looking forward to Aunt Becky, Uncle Thad & Cousin Josh's visit this weekend and to Grandma Stubblefield's visit next week.

We hope you all had happy Christmas and New Year's celebrations and that this year has been a good one so far. Happy New Year!!

I'm so glad everyone is feeling better and that you are able to get a good night's rest finally. Not enough can be said for a good night's rest. Kelman wakes up waaaay too early and feels a need to wake everyone else up. I can just picture Ben's cute little voice going around the house saying Ho ho ho. And quacking like a duck. Too cute!

How LAME that the kids were sick on Christmas with the stomach flu. I'm glad you got to celebrate anyway, albeit a little later. Sounds like everything worked out in the end - like it always does.

Sorry to hear that the stomach flu put a damper on your Christmas as well! I'm glad you still had plenty of special Christmas moments!

Seems like a lot of folks were sick over the holidays. I think we should protest for Christmas to be held when it is supposed to be - in April, when it is springtime and no flu bugs about. Glad you had a fun day anyhoo.
