Baptism

Today was Josh Tate's baptism. He is a 16 year old boy who has been attending Jared's Aaronic Priesthood class (combined Teachers and Priests Quorums) for a few months now. He has a dear friend, a 16 year old girl who was just baptized a year ago, who introduced him to the Church. He is a beautiful boy...quiet, serious and introverted, strong and brave and now a convert to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Next week he will receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost. He is preparing to receive the Aaronic Priesthood. It has meant a lot to our family that Jared has had the opportunity to be an influence in Josh's life and it meant a lot to Jared that Josh asked him to be the one to baptize him. Today when Jared got dressed in his suit for Church and then again as he got dressed for the Baptism, Hannie said, "Dad, you look like a Missionary." I was thinking the same thing. :)

I teared up when Jared told me about the baptism. What a joyful day - especially that your family got to be a part of it. It made me miss the time when my boys were serving missions.

I love these kinds of experiences. It helps us keep everything in perspective and focus on the most essential things. The gospel and our families.
